Derceto - 2012

Derceto, the Syrian goddess with a woman's face and a fish's tail, was water sovereign.

After a violent passion which she had a daughter, she abandoned the child and threw herself into a lake where she was transformed into fish.

in this series entitled "Derceto" which follows the first series " Shoals of fish", fishes are swarming around a body suspended in water as calm and absent, revealing feminine attributes, and full of sensuality and strength contained.

Is it the suspended instant of pleasure, the image of fertility, symbolized by the fish’s abundance, the memory of a collective instinct or an enigmatic dream from subconscious’ depths?

The graphic gesture could be seen as the sensation's trace, and this creates an intimate resonance between subject, context and the sensation felt.
