Shoals of fish - 2011

Oil stick on paper

120x90 cm

Fish move in shoals, forming spontaneous choreography. they dance on the paper and stare at us, the eye always open and crazy.

The idea of drawing fish arose such as a miraculous catch. This came after seeing in a Parisian newspaper, a tiny photography representing an unusually successful fishing in an Asian country, where colonies of fish sprang out of the water like geysers. Drawing them became an obvious necessity, such a call from the unconscious. These beings dumb, evasive and cold-blooded, seem doomed to keep an eye on the world, such as custodians of our psyche. Shoals of fish remind me of fertility and abundance, they convey the picture of life in motion.
